House Shout 2020

24 February 2020

The annual Caldicott House Shout raised the roof in the Centenary Hall last week as all four Houses sang to impress the judges. After a day-long rehearsal, culminating in four outstanding performances that afternoon the House spirit was palpable and the boys really rose to the challenge to out-sing their counterparts.

The performances included dancing, solos, harmonies, great cohesion of different parts being sung at the same time and musical instruments being played. Every Caldicott boy had their moment to shine.

The judges were looking at a variety of elements in five categories for each performance: musical accuracy, looking at the timing of the rhythms and pitch of notes; cohesion of the performance, which included the overall timing and coordination; presentation and organisation of the of the performance; communication with the audience and how the piece was delivered; and finally the entertainment value.

Each performance was fantastic, and the final standings were as follows:

  • First | Cooper | Pompeii by Bastille.
  • Second | Wood | One Day by Matisyahu.
  • Third | McArthur | Price Tag by Jessie J.
  • Fourth | Jenkins | Like a Prayer by Madonna.

It is always a highlight of the Caldicott calendar and for the first time, all boys from Year 3 - 8 took part.
