Swim the Channel Challenge: Completed!

24 June 2021

Caldicott has officially completed the ‘Channel Challenge’! Collectively, as a school we have completed 11,118 lengths of our pool and have raised £2385 for the Marine Conservation Society and Cancer Research UK through sponsorships of the boys. Thank you to all the parents who contributed to these sums, and to the boys and staff that amassed the distance equal to swimming the English Channel (1,689 lengths) three times and the Bristol Channel (6,033 lengths), with 18 lengths to spare.

Thank you also to Daniel Shailer, brother to one of our 6th Formers (Y8), for coming in and talking to the boys. He shared some brilliant insight into long distance swimming, as he has swum the English Channel himself. Daniel is also part of the Cambridge Open Water Swimming Squad and is currently training to take part in the Oxford v Cambridge Varsity Relay Swim. Via their relay swim, they are raising money for the same charities that we supported through the Channel Challenge, find out more on their just giving page.
