Toby's Film With Billie Piper is Out Next Friday!

12 May 2021

Rare Beasts is in cinemas and on demand as of Friday 21 May and features our very own Toby W (5th Form) as ‘Larch’, the son of Billie Piper’s character (Piper also directed the film). Toby worked on the film over an intense five-week period all the way back in September 2018. For those weeks, his routine consisted of attending school in the day, followed by travelling to North London where he would film until as late as 1am, only to repeat this the following day. One of these weeks was spent filming in Spain, something that now sounds farcical! Managing his schoolwork on top of this proved a challenge he was up for facing, with him catching up on work during film breaks. Ma’am Duncan also supported him during this time, and even went with Toby during one of his days filming in Alexandra Palace, where she volunteered as an extra (we hear that she even made the final cut)!

We should warn parents that the film is a certificate 15, containing some quite adult content, and so to keep in mind this is not suitable for young boys.

Below you can find some photos of Toby on set alongside Ma’am Duncan, Billie Piper and David Thewlis (best known for his role as Remus Lupin in Harry Potter). We are very impressed by Toby’s work ethic and perseverance which enabled him to pursue his passion, without skipping a beat in his academic studies.
