French Pop Video Competition

12 May 2021

This year the MFL department has decided to promote the “French Pop Video competition” here at Caldicott (info here). This is a national competition organised by the “Institut français du Royaume-Uni”, in association with “Francophonie UK”. The competition was open to all UK primary and secondary schools across the four nations and Channel Islands. Shortlisted videos will be streamed on their dedicated UK YouTube channel and the regional finalists will compete for the national “Francophonie UK School Music Awards” as part of Fête de la Musique in June 2021! The students were invited to create a music video of a song written and performed by them. We are pleased that two of our boys decided to enter this fantastic competition: George F (Y7) and Daniel BP (Y7). George wrote and performed the beautiful song “Ensemble”, a powerful ballad about being together and supporting each other, a very fitting statement in these difficult times we have had and a declaration of hope for the future. Daniel wrote and performed an incredible rap; a love message to his village. We wish both boys the best of luck in the competition, but no matter the outcome, they have shown a real passion and dedication, which has made the Caldicott community proud.
