Meet the Bertie the School Dog

06 May 2021

Meet Bertie the school dog, a loving pedigree Labrador who has been a member of the Banks family for the past 6 years. We spoke to the Headmaster to find out what makes Bertie such a good boy.

Bertie adores the attention he gets from the boys at Caldicott and since he was a puppy it has been in his job description to take children who have had a bad day out for a walk, something he adores, even if he hasn’t had the chance to get to know them yet.

Like all good Labradors, he has a gentle mouth, however this doesn’t prevent him from constantly carrying things around in it. His favourite toy to carry around is a stuffed ‘thing’ that Mr Banks’s daughter made as a lockdown DT project.

His favourite walking spot is Burnham Beeches (you can’t blame him!); he is pictured in the second image on the far side of the Beeches, near the remains of the Saxon village. Trumping the many fond memories of their walks, Mr Banks best memory of Bertie is when he won the ‘Waggiest Tail’ award at his daughter’s school dog show – congratulations Bertie!
