The Swimming Pool is Now Open!

30 April 2021

After months of work and a sense of growing anticipation over the Spring Term, the new and improved swimming pool is finally open! The boys have already been making great use of it, with swimming lessons and activities taking place for all year groups throughout the week.

Traditionally, our swimming provision at Caldicott has been seasonal. The nature of the outdoor pool in conjunction with British weather has meant that boys have only been able to access it during the Summer Term and the first few weeks of the Autumn Term. However, as of this week we are delighted to be able to offer year-round access with our roof fixture providing shelter during less favourable weather (this state-of-the-art cover also has to the ability to open, transforming it into an outdoor pool once the weather improves).

We also consider ourselves very lucky to have two highly qualified external swimming coaches, who have been delivering swimming lessons at Caldicott since summer 2019. Sharon and Helen are now delivering a wide range of lessons to the boys from stroke developers to more advanced lessons for boys who are passionate about enhancing their swimming performance. We aim to extend this provision even further in the future.

Sharon currently competes with the British triathlon team at both European and World championships, while Helen represented the GB swim team at Junior and Senior levels; they both currently coach at Wycombe District Swimming Club.
