Talking Sport: Mr Williams and David Seymour

04 February 2021

The Sports department is taking a proactive role in seeking critical and enriching sports knowledge to share with the whole Caldicott community. To this end, a Senior member of the Sports Team will be talking to someone from the sporting world every week with the goal of gathering their unique insight on the importance of sports in their lives. Look out for this every week as their perspective will be incredibly enriching, whether you want to achieve highly in a sport, or not.

This week Mr Williams speaks to David Seymour; David is an ex-professional rugby player who played for both Saracens and Sale Sharks in the Premiership for a total of 15 years. He is one of the most capped Premiership players of all time accruing over 100 appearances for Saracens from 2003 – 2009 and was just 4 games shy of 200 appearances for Sale Sharks from 2009 – 2018. In that time he earned international caps for England U21’s, England Saxons and England 7s playing against and alongside some of the greats of the game. His story of how he rose to the top of the professional game is a unique one and will resonate with many Caldicott boys. The interview tells of how David believes, and is proof that luck and hard work are intrinsically connected and has a number of valuable lessons for everyone at Caldicott regardless of their ambition.
