Find Your Brave Children’s Mental Health Week at Caldicott

Caldicott has been supporting Children’s Mental Health Week this week with a variety of activities for the boys to take part it.

This year’s theme was ‘Find Your Brave’. Place2Be, the organisers of CMHW says ‘Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes and is different for everyone. Bravery can be about sharing worries, asking for help, trying something new or pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. Finding your brave can build your confidence, self-esteem and make you feel good about yourself.’

During the week, Caldicott boys have taken part in yoga sessions, acted brave whilst blindfolded playing Pictionary, learnt how to dance in a Ballet session and discovered new mindfulness techniques, led by Head of Boarding Mr Hollyer, to stay present and calm.

Understanding and taking care of mental health is not just for one week but for every day. Along with trying new things, Caldicott boys are encouraged to talk to their peers and staff, an outside listener if they want and they can use the Quiet Room if they just need space from time to time. Whilst all these avenues of support are widely available to the boys, they are also encouraged to understand their own growth and development within the context of their families and the world around them. The boys are empowered to lead a healthy lifestyle and provide the tools to understand and manage their own mental health.

Caldicott aims to always listen, support and encourage each boy to speak up when they need help – to find their brave.
