Prep School Lions

27 November 2019

There has been some great news for Caldicott’s budding footballers this week.

Congratulations go to Archie B (Year 8) and Alex C (Year 7) who have been selected to represent the Prep Schools’ Lions district football A squad in their respective age groups.

A huge well done also goes to Zach K (Year 8), James F (Year 8), Lucas F (Year 8), Torin T (Year 7), Dario H (Year 7), Callum T (Year 6) and Daniel BP (Year 6) who have made it into the Prep Schools’ Lions development squad.

The standard at the trials was very strong and the selectors had a difficult task of picking out the best 18 players in each age group for the A Squads from 152 boys at U12 and 181 boys at U13. It is a fantastic achievement and great to have so many Caldicott boys involved.

The Prep Schools’ Lions is an initiative set up to support the most talented footballers from the independent school sector across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire and Surrey at U11, U12 and U13. The boys will have the opportunity to represent their area and a chance to play in matches against Academies and other regional teams to further their football skills.

In other football news, Caldicott wishes the best of luck to Zach K (Year 8) and Harry M (Year 8) who have made it to the final round of the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) U13 South Central selection process. Their final trial will take place at Ascot United on Sunday.

'A huge congratulations go to all the boys who are have been selected in the Prep Schools’ Lions Squads and those who have been selected for the final round of trials for the ISFA District Team. They have all worked incredibly hard to get there and will relish the opportunity to play with and against many of the best prep school footballers in the South East. As football is one of the three main sports at Caldicott, alongside Rugby and Cricket, we are very proud of the achievements of the boys and the progression they make throughout the seasons. Football is thriving and is an important part of the Spring Term calendar. It has been pleasing to see the determination and enthusiasm from the boys in striving to develop their technical skills on the ball and within their teams.’ - Josh Blagden, Head of Football
