Lunch Time Music Making

01 November 2019

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Forms were treated to a lunchtime concert today which included several solos ranging from boys who were performing for the first time up to 6th Form advanced musicians.

The boys heard repertoire on a variety of instruments including the piano, drums, cello and violin as well as from the brass group and guitar group.

The concert was a great opportunity for the musicians to perform to an audience in a small setting, this builds confidence and paves the way for larger-scale concerts later on. For the boys watching, this gave them an idea of what musical instruments there are to play and what progression can look like in the future.

Music is highly valued and an important part of whole school life and many boys take up not just one, but possibly two instruments to learn throughout their time at school. Performing is a great way to encourage participation in music making and becoming involved in ensembles and groups.

The school is looking forward to the two major musical events of the Autumn Term soon: the Carol Service at St Marylebone Church in London and the Autumn Concert.
