The Sound of Musicals vol 2

20 June 2019

The 3rd and 4th Forms put on two hugely entertaining performances of “The Sound of Musicals, vol 2” at the end of the Summer Term. The show took the audience on a journey escaping to a world of pure imagination where good always wins in the end, usually through the magic of song and dance.

The boys performed extracts and musical numbers from a variety of musicals. Each member wowing the audience with their wonderful singing, acting and dancing skills. Their performances were fantastic to watch.

The show started with the 4th Form entertaining their audience with songs from Oliver. Including cameos from Mr Evans as Fagin and Ma’am Duncan as Nancy. A change of direction was next with extracts from School of Rock. It was then the turn of the 3rd Form to impress with songs from The Wizard of Oz. Harry J (4th Form) and the staff chorus then gave a stirring rendition of The Stars Look Down from Billy Elliot the Musical. The pace quickly picked up with numbers from Peter Pan, The Jungle Book and Bugsy Malone. Unfortunately, the show then had to come to an end, but not without the 3rd Form bursting onto the stage to The Greatest Showman. For the finale, all the cast joined to sing A Million Dreams from the same production.

Transitions between musicals were brilliant and the energy from everyone involved was infectious; the audience went away singing. It was a wonderful way to end a fantastic year from drama at Caldicott.
