Caldicott Premier League 2019

17 June 2019

Caldicott is incredibly proud of the sporting provision, accessibility and success that the school continues to enjoy every year. However, what the school is most proud of is the exciting and meaningful internal competitions for our senior boys who may find themselves in the ‘lower end teams’.

These boys still play in standard school fixtures, but the Sports Department have also created novel internal competitions, which allow the boys to participate in front of a whole school audience. Last week, the school held the final of the cricket competition: The Caldicott Premier League.

Boys performed in their respective teams across the term with the final taking place in front of parents and the whole school. The teams participating wear coloured kits, loud music plays from the pavilion and there is commentary from a variety of staff and boys.

In this year's final, the Slough Sledgehammers took on the Windsor Warriors in a very close match coming down to the last over. The score was 97 for 7 for the Sledgehammers and 101 for 3 for the Warriors. Special mentions also go to Jonah P (6th Form) who batted superbly throughout the match and the Nikolai T (6th Form) who took a stunning catch to dismiss Freddie M (5th Form).

These matches have been a tremendous way to engage the sporting programme with boys, staff and parents. It is also a great format to engender a community spirit that supports and promotes sport at all levels.

In many ways, these sporting programmes have aligned themselves philosophically with the spirit of the school and has allowed the community to celebrate success at every level.
