World Schools Chess Championships

29 April 2019

In April, Arman F (3rd Form) was in invited to play for England in the World School Chess Championships held in Antalya, Turkey. 392 children from 33 countries participated in the competition, with England sending a team of 27 to represent their country.

The tournament consisted of nine games played over nine consecutive days (one game per day). Arman's longest game lasted a whopping five hours and 20 minutes! He managed to win three and draw two of his games resulting in a total score of 4 out of 9.

This was a strong result for Arman as the newest member of the England team; he was only half a point down from the top performing England player with 4.5 points.

Arman will next represent England in Minsk, Belarus at the World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in August.
