IAPS Ski Competition 2019

20 March 2019

At the beginning of March, Caldicott took 12 boys to Ponte di Legno, Italy for the IAPS Giant Slalom Ski Competition.

An action-packed five days included plenty of race training, a competitive qualifying and finals day, some free-style skiing, and even a study session every evening followed by a non-skiing activity.

The boys had a great time and performed exceptionally well with three teams progressing into the Championship race and one team into the Plate race, after qualifying.

The U13 Championship A team, consisting of Timothy dH, Horatio Y, and Sasha G, came second out of 34 teams, whilst the U11 Championship team of Harry J, Giacomo R and Charlie C won 1st place; making them national champions.

The U13 Championship B team of Ben S, Sonny A and Leander S came 18th overall, and the U13 Championship Plate team of Alex LS, Henry C and Albert S came 7th overall out of 47 plate teams.

Special mention must go to Timmy dH who was the second fastest skier in the whole competition out of 308 boys and girls.

The boys have worked hard with training and honing their skills through the evening activity and on holidays.

Headmaster, Jeremy Banks said, ‘Thanks to parents who have a passion for skiing and our commitment to training in the evenings, we’ve developed quite a reputation for the sport. The icing on the cake was hearing from a member of the public who was impressed with the boys showing such ‘togetherness and impeccable manners.’
