Headmaster's Welcome

Caldicott is set in an idyllic location on the edge of an ancient woodland made famous by Harry Potter amongst many, called Burnham Beeches, yet it is only 30 minutes from West London and 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport. With 40 acres of outstanding grounds in Farnham Royal, south Buckinghamshire, parents have described it as being the best located boarding and day prep school for boys in south east England.

The success of Caldicott in recent years has led some to describe the school as being amongst the country’s top prep schools. Our approach to the education we provide stems from an ethos fostered by our founder, Mr J Heald Jenkins. He believed that a prep school education should offer tremendous care for the needs of each boy, great breadth of opportunity in learning and the arts, innovative teaching and plenty of sport.

The main point of entry into Caldicott is at Year 3 and Year 4, although some boys join later. Our admissions process is described here. All boys board in Year 7 and Year 8, with the option to board extending to Year 5 and 6 in September 2018. You will also find details about our next Open Morning at which you will be guaranteed a warm welcome by our staff and in particular our Registrar.

Most boys leave at 13 to the finest independent senior schools with outstanding grades and boys routinely succeed in scholarship applications including academic, sport, music, art, drama and ‘all-rounder’ scholarships. Further details regarding future schools and scholarship success following Caldicott can be found here.

As a registered Charity dedicated to providing an outstanding education for boarding and day boys up to the age of 13, the school benefits from an outstanding body of staff and highly skilled Board of Governors who oversee the school delivering its aims. Further details can be found here.

Caldicott is committed to an education that has the wellbeing of each boy at its heart; to develop individuals who thrive and flourish in the fullest sense. We aim to equip our children to be happy and confident, form lasting relationships with others and develop strategies for coping with the challenges life throws at them – essential skills for succeeding in today’s complex, fast-moving world. Our community is not only warm and welcoming from the staff and pupil body, but also our parents form the Friends of Caldicott who add another layer of friendship and happiness. Further details can be found here.

Our website will only convey a fraction of the unique and special feel of Caldicott, so please do come along to see the school in action at an Open Morning or a private tour.

We look forward to meeting you.

The Headmaster's Address on Open Morning, March 2019

In June 2017, the Independent Schools Inspectorate endorsed the hard work and exciting journey that Caldicott is on:

“Pupils achieve high standards across the curriculum, and build knowledge and understanding in all areas of learning. This is partly due to the exemplary attitudes of pupils and their overwhelming enthusiasm, as well as excellent teaching and well planned lessons.”

“They [pupils] display a profound sense of awe in the joy of learning and the opportunities that are afforded them across school life. A joy of life permeates the school.”
