Why it's Greased Lightning!

07 October 2021

Rehearsals are in full swing for this year's senior production, and what a production it is set to be! After two years of not being able to have a live audience due to Covid restrictions, it felt right that this year we would raise the roof with everyone's high school favourite, Grease. With hits like Grease Lighting, Summer Nights, You're the One That I Want and Sandra Dee, to name but a few, the boys are looking forward to getting you up on your feet and singing along.

It is no mean feat putting on a production of this scale, especially when schedules are already packed, but our boys are rising to the challenge. With big show tunes involving a great deal of choreography and some rather challenging notes to hit, our cast and crew meet four evenings a week to rehearse. Quite a commitment, but it's always worth it in the end. We can't wait to share it with the Caldicott community on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 November

George M (6th Form) and Bertie D (5th Form) are excited to be playing the lead roles, Danny and Sandy respectively. After auditions involving singing and acting, both boys proved they were up to the task and managed to secure the coveted positions, which they described as a ‘big honour’. George had a small part in last year’s play and said that spurred him on to want a bigger role this year as he enjoyed the experience so much. We also asked the all-important question of which Grease song was their favourite, ‘We go together!’ Bertie emphatically answered, and George couldn’t argue.

The production is taking shape and most of the costumes have been sourced, but if you have any of the following items and would be happy to loan them, then please do get in touch:
