4th Form visit the Big Bang Fair

15 March 2019

The Computing, Science and Maths departments organised an amazing day at the Big Bang Fair at the NEC in Birmingham for the 4th Form boys on Thursday 14 March.

The annual STEM Fair looks at all things scientific, computing and engineering aimed at students for all ages and attracts around 80,000 people each year.

At the fair the boys had access to a huge variety of activities and displays aimed at inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and programmers, to name but a few. They were able to hear from speakers who work at some of the UKs biggest companies and found out what types of opportunities are available in these fields.

During the day boys visited stands and discovered more about medicine, electronics, virtual reality, simulators that the Royal Navy use for deep diving, how tasty people are to mosquitos and how nuclear power stations work.

A highlight of the fair was watching the Royal Institution stage show where boys went on a journey to find the best science experiment of all time. Complete with explosive effects!

The boys found the fair very useful and complemented their work in the classroom.
