New Opportunities in Music

31 January 2019

As part of the school’s commitment to providing a wide range of opportunities in music and the performing arts, we are pleased to have acquired some wonderful percussion instruments into the music department recently. These new instruments will help broaden the activities of all boys in the school.

On Wednesday, the department had a visit from world-renowned percussionist, soloist and music creative Joby Burgess. Joby gave a demonstration and led a coaching session with some boys using the new marimba. The marimba is a percussion instrument consisting of a set of wooden bars struck with yarn or rubber mallets to produce musical tones.

We are lucky to have more instruments on the way, which will complement our ever-growing selection. The Music Department is looking forward to presenting some exciting projects with these new instruments in the future which will involve a number of boys. Watch this space!
