Sherbet and Lung Dissection in Science

28 September 2018

The 5th and 6th Form have been very busy in their Science lessons this week.

The 5th Form have been learning about chemical reactions. They made sherbet to see what happened when you mix an acid with a carbonate. The fizzing sensation they felt when they ate their sherbet was the reaction between the citric acid, bicarbonate of soda and saliva. They understood that science happens everywhere - even in what they eat.

Whilst the 5th Form had devoured their sherbet, the 6th Form were looking closely at lungs and what causes asthma. They had a very practical lesson looking directly at how the lungs work and what they look like. Not for the faint-hearted!
