Making Music

14 May 2018

It was a great pleasure to take 120 boys and several music staff to St Mary’s Slough recently to perform in their long running lunchtime concert series. We were concert number 1563 if my memory serves me correctly.

Each boy performed to expectation and many well above this. It was a very varied programme of solos, ensembles and choirs.

The ensembles that took part included:

  • Junior Guitar Ensemble
  • Senior Guitar Ensemble
  • Advanced Guitar Ensemble
  • Trumpet Quartet
  • Saxophone Ensemble
  • Percussion Ensemble
  • Junior Jazz Quartet
  • Senior Jazz Quartet
  • Staff Jazz Quartet led by L Stevens
  • Junior Choir
  • 3rd and 4th Form Choir
  • Senior Choir
  • Massed Choirs

These performances were all very well organised and presented, interspersed with some equally well prepared and presented solos.

Special mention goes to Luca S for his piano performance that many people were moved by, and to August C for a beautifully executed solo guitar performance.

I would like to thank all the boys for their time and effort preparing the programme and for their commitment to their music, as well as all the music staff who took part. Our thanks to St Mary’s Church, Slough for the invitation to perform, and to all the parents who attended in support of the event.
