Marvellous Medicine Making

30 June 2017

2J have had a marvellous time this week when they created a very exciting recipe for their Form Teacher, Ma’am Rooney.

The boys have been studying Roald Dahl’s “George’s Marvellous Medicine” in their English lessons recently and thought it would be a great idea to put their knowledge to the test and come up with their own version.

Into the mix went: mushy peas, chopped tomatoes, mustard, a can of coke, cat food, spaghetti hoops, washing up liquid, hair mousse and an old can of Irish stew! Yum.

As they wrote their recipe, the boys needed to state what each ingredient would do to their teacher as well as use adjectives, imperative verbs and adverbs to explain the concoction.

The lesson was a creative and engaging way to delve deeper into the Roald Dahl story, understand the importance of narrative and have fun at the same time.
