Choral Day at Charterhouse

03 May 2017

On Tuesday 25 April, 16 5th Form boys took part in the Prep Schools Choral Day at Charterhouse. The boys joined many other prep schools in a day of singing choruses from the “Messiah” by Handel.

During the afternoon the boys learnt and rehearsed the main choruses; “And the Glory of the Lord”, “Worthy is the Lamb”, “Glory to God”, “Hallelujah” (of course), “He trusted in God” and the long, final “Amen”. The boys did really well to absorb so much of the music and join in so fully. They also learned a great deal about how to follow a choral score and four-part chorus work.

For the concert, the boys were joined by some re-enforcements in the shape of the Charterhouse choir, and the final performances did everyone great credit.

Director of Music and Performing Arts, James Wild said “It was super to see them really working to follow and understand some of the more complex music in the pieces.  Thank you to Charterhouse music department for hosting a fabulous afternoon of singing.”
