As part of British Science Week a group of 4th, 5th and 6th Form boys attended The Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Fair at the NEC in Birmingham on Friday 16 March. The annual fair is a celebration of all things science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) for young people in the UK.
The fair consisted of exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits and also careers information from a wide range of STEM professionals.
The boys took part in a variety of workshops including, seeing how many mosquitos would try to bite them, maths puzzles and they learnt how jet engines are made. They also watched a live show called “Do try this at home” where they saw strange experiments with many different objects found at home. The experiments involved fire, breaking glass, dropping metal beads from a great height and how to turn a boring spreadsheet into an HD image.
The boys had a fantastic time, learning a great deal about science in a fun and interactive way.
