To celebrate National Science Week, boys at Caldicott took part in Rocket Day. Boys in each year group attended workshops where they were given in introduction on the mechanics of flight and the design of rockets.
They then had the opportunity to make their own rockets and launch them into “space” using compressed air launchers. Each member of the school successfully launched their rockets in the school grounds seeing who was able to launch theirs the highest. A good rocket can sometimes fly as high as 30m up!
The day culminated in a special launch of a larger rocket and the boys were very excited to see this. They were amazed at how far it went into the sky and coming back down with its own parachute.
Rocket Day was a huge success and the whole school enjoyed being creative whilst learning the fundamentals of rocket science.
