Welcome to Caldicott

You will find here all the information you need about the community of pupils, staff, parents and volunteers that make Caldicott one of the country’s top prep schools for boys from 7 to 13 years old. The school is set in 40 acres of beautiful grounds and magnificent playing fields, just 20 minutes from Heathrow Airport and half an hour west of London. Our facilities are excellent and our academic, sporting and pastoral staff are highly experienced professionals, backed by a dedicated team of support staff. With sound governance and leadership the staff collaborate to provide a first-class rounded education, with the skills and academic success to stand our boys in good stead for the next stage of their education.

Day schooling and boarding at Caldicott are second to none. Boys start here as day pupils and become boarders in their final two years. Most boarders go home on a Saturday night and there is a core group which is cared for by our pastoral team over the weekend. We provide good food, cooked from scratch and actively promote healthy eating for all. There is a Health Centre in the heart of the boarding house, with a team of nurses and matrons to look after the physical and emotional wellbeing of the boys. We also recognise the importance of free time, for boys to make friends and enjoy time playing outside in our magnificent grounds.

The school expects high academic standards whilst providing a very high standard of pastoral care, to nurture and develop happy and well-rounded boys who grow up to be confident individuals and independent thinkers. We also provide numerous opportunities for participation in team sport and this of course develops team working and the life skills they will need. The boys enjoy a broad cultural experience, all of them participating in music, art and drama which, at Caldicott, are thriving departments. Our numerous productions in the performing arts centre are some of the highlights of the school year. Chapel within the school grounds is central to the life of the school and the boys are encouraged to develop a social conscience as well as a sense of duty.

We receive a great deal of positive feedback about Caldicott boys from their public schools. The consistent themes are that the young men we have nurtured are well- mannered, considerate, have high personal, moral and spiritual values and have a good sense of their challenges and responsibilities to others, both close and in the wider community. These are the personal qualities that we seek to develop in all boys in our care.

I very much look forward to welcoming you when you come to visit the school and to showing you all we have to offer here at Caldicott.
