Caldicott Boys attend Radley College Orchestral Day

11 October 2017

Three Caldicott musicians visited Radley College on Monday to take part in the Radley Prep Schools Orchestral Day.

The event brought together a number of prep schools to learn and play together, culminating in a concert for friends and family.

Archie C (6th Form), playing the trumpet, performed in the brass section playing “March” by Elgar Howarth, whilst Matthew D (5th Form) and Alfie T (6th Form), both on saxophones, performed in the concert band playing “Funky Groove School” by Walter Gladwin and “The Battle Pavane” by Tielman Susato.  All three boys then played in the full orchestra performing “Night on the Bare Mountain” by Modest Mussorgsky.

Director of Music and Performing Arts, James Wild said, “They worked hard all day on both sectional pieces and the full orchestral arrangement. It was great to work in such large numbers, and our three acquitted themselves very well.”
