The school was delighted to welcome the Slough Philharmonic Orchestra to perform a concert to boys and their parents on Wednesday 15 March.
The orchestra performed a varied programme, beginning with the dramatic opening Allegro from Beethoven’s famous 5th Symphony and ending with two movements from the 4th Symphony of Robert Schumann.
The concert also included the 1st Movement of Beethoven’s 4th Piano Concerto which also featured two of our own accomplished musicians: Taran G (6th Form) on 2nd Violin and Luca S (5th Form) on 2nd Clarinet. They performed incredibly well and rose to the challenge of playing with professionals.
The highlight for most boys was “The Land of the Mountain and the Flood” by Scottish composer Hamish McCunn. Through its accessible melodic themes and use of heavy brass, the boys were able to form a great picture of the Scottish landscape through the music.
It was a privilege to have a symphony orchestra play at Caldicott and the school hopes to continue the partnership with Slough Philharmonic in the future.
All boarders attended the concert and you can read some of their comments here.
