In the Divinity Department boys receive lessons on all of the major world religions, although as Caldicott is a predominantly Christian School there is obvious bias towards Christianity. This is also a part of their preparation for Common Entrance.
From the first terms in the Junior School boys learn about the School Chapel and our patron saint - St Francis of Assisi. This helps to give them an understanding of the services regularly held in this beautiful Chapel.
As the boys progress through the school a greater emphasis is placed on scriptural and theological topics. These are studied alongside modern contemporary issues, frequently taken directly from that morning's newspapers. This increases the boys' knowledge and understanding of the world in which they live.
We use a number of text books, the most important of which is, of course, the Bible. Learning in this subject is also developed, particularly at the Senior level, through discussion.
