Boarding at Caldicott is relaxed and fun and lies at the heart of the school in a unique sense of community. All boys in Years 7 and 8 board and this provides a key role in encouraging them to live and work together, building life-long friendships and developing independence before they go on to their senior schools at 13+.
Boarders enjoy a vast range of activities with everything from cookery and cricket to calligraphy club and climbing. Boys are blessed by their natural surroundings, and take full advantage of them. Walking, clay pigeon shooting, archery and mountain biking in Burnham Beeches and visits to local National Trust properties and museums in London. To exercise boarders’ minds, a series of General Studies sessions also run every week. To date, we have enjoyed talks by Matthew Syed, Matt Dickinson and Shaun Bailey.
As well as the Headmaster and his wife who have a house onsite, the evening pastoral team consists of Houseparents Mr and Mrs Langley, Matrons, School Nurses and Corridor Staff. Evening activities are provided by teachers, many of whom also live onsite or nearby and in turn give the boys opportunities to try new activities and gain new experiences.
