Round 5 of the CPL took place on Monday.

Only the top 4 teams go through to the play offs. GX and the Sledgehammers are equal on points, but GX are placed above them because they have a higher E/H2/W score (this is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of wickets they have lost).

An important announcement from the CPL Executive Fixtures Committee:

The CPLEFC held a special meeting last night. Much debate took place, but it has now been decided that as round 1 was disrupted by a trip, it will be replayed this coming Friday. The matches are therefore:

This will be a very exciting and potentially dramatic conclusion to the league as if you look at the table above you can see that this corresponds to 1st v 2nd, 3rd v 4th & 5th v 6th.

Every single team has something to play for and every point is vital. Tornadoes and Warriors are battling to see who will come top and gets to choose their opponents for the Play Offs. GX and Sledgehammers are nervously looking over their shoulders. Whoever loses their match could well slip into 5th place and out of the play offs, and be overtaken by whichever team wins in the Devils v Barbarians match.

The best thing the teams can do is to win as this gives 7 points. However, there are another 6 batting and bowling points still on offer regardless of whether they win or lose so it is vital they try and get all of these.
