On Monday 13 March 1st Form boys had a visit from Action Aid during their Geography lesson to help with their studies about life in India and in particular life in Chembakolli.
Action Aid explained to the boys what life is like for the tribal people of a rural village in the Nilgiri Hills of southern India and how that life has changed over the years.
During the workshop the boys’ discovered many things including; how the villagers stood up for their rights to own their own land on which they live, the different tools and toys that are used every day and also about the different food the villagers eat and grow themselves.
To end the workshop the boys took part in a traditional Chembakolli tea tasting. The tasting helped the boys understand the importance of Fair Trade and deepen their understanding of rural India.
