As part of their General Studies program, the Fifth and Sixth Form boys were visited by another fantastic speaker, James Ketchell. In 2007, James suffered two broken legs, a broken arm and a dislocated ankle in a serious motorcycle accident, and was told by doctors he might never fully recover. He has since bounced back to fitness in a remarkable recovery. In 2013, just five years after the accident, Ketchell will attempt an enormous feat by completing the Ultimate triathlon; rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera to Barbados, Climbing 8,848m to the summit of Everest and then cycling 18,000 miles around the world in less than six months! His fascinating talk included information on just how hard these challenges are and how he will achieve them. He also talked about what motivates him and what it feels like when you have achieved your goals. He tried to inspire the boys by asking them what motivates them and what goals they would like to achieve.
